4x4 RESPONSE North East

Providing logistical vehicle and driver assistance to the emergency services, local authorities and associated responders in diverse weather conditions and difficult terrain throughout the year.

Worth sharing. Not our usual kind of post but feel this needs to be shared under the circumstances. The Fuel "Shortage" happening at the moment, is not caused by shortage of fuel, however, it is now becoming an issue due to suppliers not being able to cope with the demand. 12 months ago everyone was out applauding the key workers, the NHS staff, our Emergency services. Indeed, everyone that kept the country looked after, from delivery drivers to carers, the list is endless. Now the very people we were all stood applauding are struggling to get in to to do those key jobs. Ambulances spending hours driving around to fill their fuel tanks up, not only does this take them off duty whilst they do, but ambulances engines are running constantly to keep their kit in the back running like the heating systems for patients. These patients need to be seen and what happens when the ambulance cant arrive? Would you be happy to spend several hours waiting because the crews cant find a fuel station to top up their tanks? Would you be happy to see a loved one suffer because a crew cant attend? The forecourts that have had to close until a delivery turns up; they had scheduled deliveries, but the panic buying has caused them to close, as they simply can not cope with the demand. Panic buying is causing a bigger issue, putting additional strains onto the delivery drivers Think, how many carers who use their vehicles to get out to patients are stuck in these long queues, how many nurses and doctors, delivery drivers ... again the list is extensive. Bus services around the county are running at reduced capacity due to sickness, annual leave etc, so more and more key and essential workers are reliant upon their vehicles, which need fuel. The oil tankers are still delivering to the refineries, the refineries are still processing the fuel and piping it out to fuel storage depots and more importantly, the drivers are still out delivering it. Just because a few forecourts owned by 2 companies had to close until the delivery arrived does not mean there is a shortage of fuel. Just think .... do you ACTUALLY need to fill up? You could just be saving a life if you can manage or just fill what you need. Pic courtesy of Hackney Gazette ... See MoreSee Less
